You are considered a utility employee if you are employed under a collective bargaining agreement or participation agreement by an employer who is designated as a utility by the Trustees, or a member of that utility's board of directors. The utility must contribute to Lineco at the rate of 174 hours per month for each of its employees who are paid for at least 125 hours per month.
Eligibility - If you are working for a utility employer, you will be eligible during each month that your employer makes a correct and timely contribution to Lineco. The Rollback Rule and the Eligibility During Disability rules do not apply, nor can you make short-hours self-payments, but you will be entitled to COBRA coverage if you or a dependent has a qualifying event. When you retire, your months of eligibility will be counted toward meeting the eligibility requirements for Retiree Benefits.
Benefits - The benefits provided to eligible utility employees and their dependents are the same benefits provided to non-utility employees and dependents. However, the Insurance Benefits (Life Insurance and AD&D Insurance) and the Weekly Loss of Time Benefit are not provided for utility employees.
